Hello Lovelies
Its a glorious warm summer evening and after a good clean of the kitchen, a large Pizza and some Tv, Im sitting on the couch in a pair of Marsdens shorts relaxing.
The lovely thing about long days at work and even longer years at the grind, is that eventually they all end and you get to spend time with people you really love. I cant believe that all the christmas decor is in the stores and the chimes are ringing out to boney M already!!!!. Was it not just christmas the other day??? guess not.
I guess this is the time of year that, typically, you should start reflecting on the year you have had. Mine seriously didnt pan out as expected, but hey we are not the masters of our own fate, we merely are steering our lives in the best direction we can.
This is a very short post just giving you a little thought........
THINGS WILL GET BETTER!! i promise as bad as it seems, it eventually will work out. Lets embrace the year end as we start to wind down. Enjoy your family and friends and embrace the cheesy hats, and horrible tasting christmas cake.
(about) 9 weeks and counting and hoping to bring you some fun inspirational tutorails and fashion pieces before then!
anyhoo thats me for the evening, sorry for the random post.... this warm air is getting to my head!
Sleep sweetly my lovelies......
With all my love
Day to day, Love, people, Art, Fashion, music and tons of other stuff inbetween. Why I love Lucy? A TV show from the 50’s (the era I should have been born in) the show was about a gutsy woman married to a musician, Lucy is naïve and ambitious, with an overactive imagination and a knack for getting herself into trouble, seemed appropriate! this blog is about the all the things i love, and for all the other little "Lucy's" out there. A space of hopes and dreams…. A space of longing and faith. x

LuCy LoVeS.........ThE FuN KiTscH StUfF.......
Hello Lovelies.......
This post is a lil delayed as iv had a roller coaster of a week to try and get over.......
The long and the short of it was this: After three weeks of planning a "summer holiday" with Marsden and building up a major amount of excitement, my body decided to stab me in the back and leave me for dead! (ok so thats a little dramatic, but hey my immune system was not playing around). We ended up cancelling our holiday the day before leaving as i was stuck with a kidney, bladder and...... wait for it...... upper respiratory infection.
So after lots of tears on the ruin of our vacation and five days of Cortesone down (with a lovely swollen face to match), it seems i am back in the land of the living, and back to all my little Lucy's.
I need a little "pick me up" post as i couldnt not be sadder thinking about how i should be looking at an elephant or something right now, so i decided to do something fun with the write up today.
Has any one noticed the sudden acceptance of all things Kitsch??? seriously though, things that were considered completely taboo in the past have all of a sudden become very much 'in'!. Im talking steve erkel frames and leopard printed leggings, all the stuff that was labelled a serious no go has suddenly come back with a bang.
I for one dont mind it too much, i love the fact that women are having fun with their clothes and experimenting more and more without the restriction of trends holding them back. Lets look at all things kitsch and how to wear them appropriately without looking like a complete mess:
time to play old school Kitsch and New school Kitsch!
Lose the old school Steve Erkel get up and replace it with something inspired by the fall range from DSquared2, all the pieces are Mens wear inpired and have a classic edge with a bit of fun.
Or perhaps be a lil more casual and just rock a beanie and some cheap shades.
Leopard print, BAD IN THE 80'S!!!!!! sooooo cute in the new school.......
seriously ladies. lets not make fatal errors in judgement when it comes to the "less is more concept".... the saying really is true.......... less IS more!
This on the other hand is what im talking about, fun and flirty... cutesy and still fashion forward!
Small statement pieces are vital to bring a lil pizazz to an outfit. Nicole Ritchie does it perfectly here.
Remember to pair your Kitsch cool with currrent pieces, and dont throw out your moms old vintage scarf!..... fashion fades have a way of wriggling back and becoming cool again, so think twice about chucking out those vintage handbags of Grans, yes the ones with the tassles! lol, you just never know.
Thinking of doing a scarf post next, my obsession is getting a lil much.... so i think its time to show you......... until then....
All my love

LuCy LoVeS............StYle IcOnS & PeRfEcT TrEsSeS!
Hello Lovelies......
Welcome to the Wednesday rant! With the sun beating down on us in Sunny SA, and a vacation looming for my husband and I, I cant help but feel excited about the rest of the week. Lets get straight into the fashion post for the day....... Style icons and how to get the same looks for less!!!!!
Ever look at people like Jeanni Mai, Guilliana Rancic and Kim Kardashian and feel consumped by a small green goblin called envy? I do, all the time. There is truly something timeless about the pieces they collaborate whether it be a sexy chiffon top and simple Jeans or elegant gowns gracing the soft red carpets of Hollywood, some of those celebs just have it!
But who's to say that you don't? you can absolutely have looks just like these style icons for far less. and no one will know the difference!
Stores like Edgars, Mr price and Vibes are sure to stock all the trends eventually, sure they may be a few weeks behind, but hey id rather wait then break the bank!!!
wardrobe staples like a timeless blazer or a good pair of jeans, truly are affordable these days and compliment almost anything you have hanging in your closet!
its important to remember that statement pieces will go along way in you wardrobe, using a layering technique to get the most out of the things you have. Incorporate the old and the new and perhaps think of revamping a top with a few ruffles or even just rip those old jeans and revive your day time look.
i truly believe that you can be iconic in your own right, draw inspiration of the icons you love and then let the search begin!
This is really quite an old pic of me but the only one with one of my fav blazers which I bought at Mr Price for only R120!!!! Kinda reminds me of Kim Kardashian school boy style in the pic below.
So it shows you, you can get those looks and wont have to worry about falling behind trend again. Stay current with your trends but dont allow them to dictate what to wear. trends will come and go but good fashions items will last you lifetimes! stick with the basics and have fun dressing them up to get that trendy up to date look.
One of the greatest assets that we have as women, has to be our hair. I gotta say that often my hair has saved the day when im having serious fashion meltdowns. Being current and trendy also means keeping those tresses looking healthy and ultimately just having fun with what you have! try something new, dont stick with the mundane styles day after day. below iv captured some fun styles to take a look at...
Eventually when my hopes and dreams of being a Pro Blogger come true (and I have more than 4 people following me, I love you all) i would love to post a couple tutorial videos for all of you to watch and try out for yourself....
For now let me know what you think....
All styles created with a good straightening Iron, Tresemme heat defense and lots of hair spray!
I was very Lucky to have an amazing hairstylist for my wedding, the style was soft and pretty.... and very dark. i just loved it. Again just done with a good blow out and then a straightening iron to set curls in place. (It does help to have your hair healthy before hand to allow for best results)

Thanks for joining me today, i hope you enjoyed the (hopefully) inspiring post on being your own icon and styling those gorgeous tresses. I f you have any questions about the styles featured today dont hesistate to pop me a comment.
I hope to post a lil more before we go away, but if i dont i leave you with this.......
only great minds can afford a simple style!
have a fab week.

lUCY lOvEs..... uUuuUuUuUuUmMmMmM.... WhAtS NoT To LoVe.......
Hello Lovelies.........
Moving house often sparks the desire to get those creative juices flowing. The current interior design scene is really buzzing with some amazing works at the moment, Lucky for me i have two very good friends in the design world working up a storm, Carey King a good friend of mine has started a Blog on her design adventure( http://careylavie.blogspot.com/) while Ashley Chevalier makes her way out of internship into the big bad world of interior design in Jhb, currently working at Vendange at 44 Stanley.....
Recently a friend suggested that Mars and I go take a look at a little space of awesomeness called Memories.....as the name suggests, each piece in the store seems to hold a small memory or story from years gone by and the space is filled with such character its hard not to fall in love. Anything from old suitcases to worn out tea sets, you are sure to get lost in hidden rooms filled with precious pieces. This store is the essence of interior vintage couture and is truly worth the visit. address: NEPTUNE AVENUE, CROWTHORNE A H, MIDRAND, GAUTENG, ZA
Take a look at some vintage ideas to install in your home, the beauty of the vintage scene is that each room will take on its own personality as small features come to life.....
Memories stock such an incredible range of old suitcases, Maybe its just because im a fan of bags in general that this trends really sticks out to me!
The best part of installing pieces like these in your home is the ability to do all of it on a pretty tight budget (spending money on amazing statement pieces) and getting involved in the DIY process of making your house a home!
Simplicity at its best............. really proving less is more!
Lucky for Marsden and I, we recieved a vintage mantle piece just like this one (but way better ;-) ) as a house warming gift, will post pics soon i promise!
When I stayed In Cape Town, i was intrduced to a an amzing company called the Block & Chisel, Now anything i say about this store is completely meaningless in comparison to the absolutely incredible works that they sell, Im talking wooden doors out of temples in India. Please do yourself a favour and take a drive to the store in CT or Jhb:

Lucy LoVeS....... CatChInG Up, ShAbBy BlOgS & BeInG HaPpY!!!!!!
Hello Lovelies
Wow, it’s been an age since I last posted to the very few people who read this, but hey lets catch up!
Marsden and I are happily settled into a little home and absolutely loving having our independence back again, how wonderful to just do as you please, I completely forgot what it felt like!. I came to realise that patching a band aid over your wounds won’t always solve the problems you are facing in other aspects in your life, sure we are completely content in our lovely new home, we have Chloe running around and playing with other cats in the area, Mars and I have a great marriage and are still so in love, but you still can’t help but think of what more is out there. perhaps it’s the longing for travel or for a family, or maybe even to have some extra money every month, the truth is that, unfortunately as a human being ( and especially as a woman), you will always long for more, But for now I am very content with my life.
Now enough about me and all my tales of life and love, let’s get into some fun things that you may like to look into. I decided to revamp I love Lucy simply because I was losing interest in it, and I really didn’t want that. Although there are only a few of you that read my silly rants, I still enjoy expressing myself through this little outlet to the world. I wanted it to be fresh and new and allow me to have some more fun with my posts, after searching for new templates I came across the cutest download site ever! Shabby Blogs!!!
Now think of walking through a virtual store of vintage cuteness, and you have shabby blogs. Anything from background templates to cute headers and post pretties, you are gunner find it here: http://shabbyblogs.com/?page_id=5
In fact the divine pink distressed background I have revamped with is from shabby blogs, I love it!!!! Take a look at some aspects of the website:
Please leave a comment or a link to your blog, I’d love to share in your journey! (And perhaps see some of your shabby blog work)
I promise that since I have revamped will be posting a lot more, I'm thinking of doing a feature piece on style icons next. Perhaps you would like to leave a comment with discussion or post topics you would like me to look into. I want to take I love Lucy to the next level. Xxx

HoPeS Of HaPpInEsS aNd TiNy ToEs.......
Hello Lovelies
So this post is a little more dynamic, a little more deep and hopefully something that other girls can relate to with me. I know it’s been all fashion and style up to this point, but I want this blog to be more in depth. I want to share experiences and my journey, and hear about yours too.
It’s been a while since I last posted, the honest truth is that I have been wound up in myself lately, which I guess is not the nicest thing to say, but I think everyone deserves to be a little selfish at times. With my husband and I only recently getting back up on our feet I have spent the last little while reflecting on how I want my life to pan out and where I want to be. No one ever knows exactly where we are heading or how it’s going to turn out in the long run but I think we all have a small idea as to how we want to live. I often see people putting themselves into categories, some are the "career orientated hot shots" others are the”: fun loving art types", but me I don’t know. If you had to ask me 5 years ago I would probably hit u back with my dreams of being an insane fashion designer, who wanted to be travelling and partying as much as I could. As I grew up I realised that things dont always pan out as well as you think they do, I went to fashion school and realised that while I excelled in design lectured I failed miserably in the practical side. I changed varsities and went to my new college with a serious cocky attitude, which would ultimately be my downfall. All I did that year was party hard, drink and make no attempt at lectures. I knew ultimately that I was letting myself down.
When I met my husband, my life changed. He taught me to pick myself up when I was completely down in the dumps with no ambition and make something of myself. I started working at a wonderful company, with fantastic people, the kind of people you treat like family.
So this is where I was in my life, I had just got married to the most amazing precious man, I was doing well in my job, as was he, and we lived in a gorgeous little flat that was filled with sunlight and the pitter patter of our lovely little kitten, Chloe. Life was wonderful, we had a great social life and wonderful family, and I was finally at a point where I was content.
Marsden was enjoying his job and we both were lapping all the success life had to offer. Marsden had a change of management in his company and we both didn’t take too much notice of it, until a few months in. You know the type of person who makes your lie and day to day duties a living hell, well Marsden's new manager was just that person. In time Marsden and I were at each other’s throats every night, and my poor husband was just as miserable as he could be in his job. Eventually, he couldn’t take another day and handed in his resignation.
Our whole world tumbled as we packed up our sunny apartment, for which we could not afford and move into my in laws home. While all this was happening, I was trying to be the best support possible to my mom, my best friend (who had just tragically lost her mom to cancer) and most importantly be a support to my husband, who I love more than anything and want to be a good wife too.
There we were, newlyweds, packed into a room, with no idea where we were heading or what we were going to do. Chloe hated the other animals and took, what seemed like forever to settle in. I felt just like her, I also had to adjust to be confined and in a different surrounding. Now, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love and admire my in laws, they took us in with open arms, put food in our mouths and a roof over our heads, but this was a big change!
We kept telling ourselves that this was only temporary, which it was. But what is temporary, is it a month? two? six? This we simply could not answer. All the plans we seemed to have previously seem to fade very quickly on our one salary a month situation. We had to accept this and realise that we could get through. It’s never easy to live in such a confined space, you and your husband are living on top of each other and I found myself making a straight dash from the shower to the room in my towel without bumping into anyone. I would often sit on the bed and think............... "This is hard".
It’s been 8 months now, and finally we are looking for a place to stay again. It’s coming up to our first year anniversary and I can’t believe what a roller coaster ride the first year of marriage has been. We save every penny we can, even to the point of not planning any celebrations for our one year because we need every dime for a deposit on a house. Now I don’t want you to think this is a sob story, think of it more as a testimony, and a true reflection of "you don’t know what you got till it’s gone". I am not writing this so you sit there thinking, shame! No I write this because I want every person to realise that you should never take anything for granted. Its also a true testimony to the saying "when it rains it pours", not only did we have all this happen at once I also got struck with my wisdom teeth getting infected and pushing through and going through a couple doctor’s appointments, which were not so serious up until recently.
I will just get into the long and short of it, after a visit to one of those "special" doctors; Marsden and I were encouraged to start trying for a baby immediately, also to go for a laparoscopy to check if everything was in working order. At the age of 23 this is not the kind of thing you want to hear, all of a sudden everything comes into play........ We have not bought a house, we have not travelled, and we have not even bought a dog or put up a white picket fence. We don’t have a penny to our names and here we are, being encouraged to have a baby.....as the chances are only going to get slimmer as I get older. All I knew was this, initially it was drizzling, then it started to rain, and now im in a hail storm.
I can’t tell you the type of emotion you feel when you get news like this, especially if you wanted kids.....one day. I knew one emotion that was burning brightly in my heart, ENVY! I looked around at many people pushing prams and carrying children, I watched families drive into driveways of happy homes, and I felt green. I simply couldn’t help it; it came over me like a bucket of water over my head! In the last couple of days it has slowly started to subside but it’s something I still struggle with. There is probably a chance that we could be 30 and still have a child but there could also be complete infertility! So what do you do, this is a BIG choice!??? One thing for sure is WE NEED TO HAVE FAITH NOW MORE THAN EVER!
This post is not about style or fashion; it’s not about a trendy designer or a gorgeous new bag. It’s just the story of a girl who loves her husband with everything she has to give, and who desperately wants to be a mother one day.
Ladies or whoever is out there reading this silly little blog. If there is one thing I can say or advise you on, it’s this: Don’t spend your life wishing for something more, we live today, this is what we have right now. Why long for the good old days, when the future is lapping at your feet and the wind is fresh at your back pushing you into new opportunities. Remember that when you feel you’re lowest, it can get worse, but once you have got over that hump, you will enjoy all the joys that this world has to offer. It’s never the end of the world, although believe me it feels like it.
I hope I leave you feeling a little more inspired about your day!
With all my love

LuCy LoVeS...........IcOnIc PiCtUrEs & ThE OrIgInAl I LoVe LuCy!!!!!!!!
Hello Lovelies...........
This is gunna be quite a short little post,I realise i havent written in a while (and at this point there is not many of you to write too, lol) but i hope you enjoy it regardless.
When i first came across the original I love Lucy TV series, i was absolutely spell bound. I watched a few quick snippets on you tube here and there, and was completely taken with Lucille Ball, who plays Lucy. Her whining voice and fiery red hair made up a gutsy young actress, with a sense of humor bar none!!!. I found there was really something to making movies and television shows in the 50's. It was truly an art, always touching, sentimental, dramatic and funny! do yourself a favour and go check it out, you wont regret it i promise.
Next to Lucy, i fell madly in love with Vivian Vance. Vivian played the land lady in the sitcom and was hysterical, as was most of the cast. I began to read up on Vivian and i was completely taken back by the pictures taken from her younger years.... all i can say is wow.
i found myself gooling all sorts of iconic pictures after i had seen these, and wondered where all the magic of photography had gone? its all about fancy lights, locations and perfect models. But many of the most iconic photos were taken in the spirit of the moment, and i truly believe thats why everyone really gravitates towards them, we can all relate to different scenes, and different emotions. Each picture really tells its own story.
take a look at some of my favourite iconic pictures:
